Kumara harvest 2023!

Last Thursday some of our team here at Whare Manaaki had the privilege of being able to dig up this years harvest of kumara. Kumara were an important food source for our tūpuna Māori. Over the last two years of running our māra Kai, we have been experimenting with different varieties and methods to grow them. We are so excited by this year's harvest and we're able to figure out the best varieties for us to use here in te Tai o Poutini. We will set some of these kumara aside for our Matariki celebrations and hakari in July, and look forward to sharing the rest with our whanau and community
